HAND DRAWN SHORT MOVIES AND VIDEOCLIP

I draw on a light table I built in 2013 with upcycled materials. I still use the same brush. When I need to copy the movement of human models I use an old PC screen resting on a desk, among solvents, crayons, pens, pencils, midi controllers, my son’s empty markers, notes, synthesisers, out-of-tune guitars, my cat playing with the wires.

My lab is a small heaven. I like using messy materials. I like unpredictable reactions. An accidentally-spilled jar of dirty water soaking finished drawings. Scanning damp paper sheets. Not worrying about dense drops of colour spilling. Freely merging techniques and materials, discovering the creases of drying paper, the alterations on an image when a sheet breaks while being scanned, the surprising ramifications of all these “mishaps”.

This approach to work is not a considered choice responding to particular aesthetic or creative needs. It is simply inevitable, a flow I do not and cannot control.
